Around a third of all road traffic collisions involve someone who is driving a vehicle as part of their job. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1994 and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, companies have the responsibility of managing health and safety effectively, this also includes ensuring employees and the public are not put at any un-necessary risk by any driving related activities taking place by the company. The introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 has further emphasised the need for companies to further reduce any risks associated with employees driving.
With regard to complying with legislation, it is no longer acceptable for companies to assume their driving related activities are safe by just ensuring that the vehicles used are properly maintained and are legal, and that the driver holds a valid licence.
To minimise risks to the company, their drivers and the public, companies are encouraged to ensure their fleet drivers undertake a driving assessment / training exercise, conducted by a DSA (driving standards Agency) Fleet Driver Trainer Instructor..
Our Anderby Chief Instructor, Graham Kent, is on the DSA Fleet Register for Driving Instructors. As an ex company vehicle driver of 20 years, Graham understands the needs and pressures of a company driver and with his ten years additional experience in Driver Training will carry out assessment/training in a very positive manner for the employee.
Our Fleet Driving Training programmes are flexible, education and enjoyable. Our dedicated Instructors will guide, encourage and support you all the way.
Example courses may include a group theory session, Individual Driving Assessment, Driver training (as necessary), Debrief and written report.
